Stranger in the woods!

I love the contrast of the cardinal against the snowy backdrop. You're right No. 1 Son, it also reminds me of the children's book "Stranger in the Woods"

Wonderful photo. Last winter I read comments in the report, about how few birds we had. It was true for us too. This winter, we have a flock of 50-60 goldfinch daily along with a number of other varieties. Such a joy to see their return in numbers.

Your photo of the horse yesterday and the bird today are wonderful. What a treat you share with us around the world each day! Thank you so much.

Ah, I see our state bird has headed north for the winter...perhaps looking for some snowy perch...all is sunny and cold in Ohio! Not a flake in sight. Great picture!

The only way I have known that these are pictures of Northern Michigan, and not Central Kentucky, the past two days is because of the snow! With KY being the "horse capital of the world" and our state bird being the cardinal, you could have fooled me. Dad, I hope they remind you a little bit of home!

"Stranger In the Woods" is such a wonderful book. Yesterday's picture reminded me of a riding adventure years ago, through the trails in the woods, on a snowy day. The horse and I seemed as one with Mother Nature that day. The Cardinal picture is awesome. You are good. By the time I get my digital in focus the bird is gone.

I like the chickadee.Editor's note: Slootie, you old "eagle eye"!

As I slowly scrolled down, I was hoping that there would be a beautiful Cardinal in the picture. You did not disappoint me. Thanks! Great shot!

Great shot. It would be a cardinal sin not to take this picture.

Glad to see a couple of family members making comment on the site. While it is snowy and cold in Michigan and Ohio- we are having spring weather in Kansas. Today's high was 60 degrees. However, have no fear- we are headed for the deep freeze next week- and the meter will run!

Yesterday's photo was pure poetry in motion. This one is a brilliant beauty. (I did this one on my own without help from Tracy VanderPol).

Keith, your cardinal looks just like my cardinal, however, my photo looks nothing like yours - So nice to have a pro like you. Many thanks!!!

Beautiful photos. Thanks for the daily "treat". I searched and I have found the chickadee also!!!

I agree with Mr. Schlueter. A chickadee for sure

Two exciting things about Thursday morning...Your write up in the Record Eagle and my siting of a huge male eagle in Good Harbor Bay! Both inspiring.
