	From leelanau neighbor on 1/14/2004 Wonderful photo. Last winter I read comments in the report, about how few birds we had. It was true for us too. This winter, we have a flock of 50-60 goldfinch daily along with a number of other varieties. Such a joy to see their return in numbers.

With KY being the "horse capital of the world" and our state bird being the cardinal, you could have fooled me. Dad, I hope they remind you a little bit of home!
	From Sharon in Ohio on 1/14/2004 "Stranger In the Woods" is such a wonderful book. Yesterday's picture reminded me of a riding adventure years ago, through the trails in the woods, on a snowy day. The horse and I seemed as one with Mother Nature that day. The Cardinal picture is awesome. You are good. By the time I get my digital in focus the bird is gone.

Today's high was 60 degrees. However, have no fear- we are headed for the deep freeze next week- and the meter will run!
